Ever wonder how to get that classic “record brake” sound in your Pro Tools session?
First, let’s discuss what the “record brake” sound even is. For those of you who have not DJ’d or used record players, the “brake” sound is when you stop the motor and the disc slowly spins to a stop. As the record gradually stops spinning, the needle continues to read the information and the result is a slow descent in pitch and time. It’s pretty cool sounding.
Well, Pro Tools plug-in Vari-Fi can create this effect and then some. With all of the possibilities, you can create some really cool sounding stuff all inside the box. Check out this video for a quick introduction on how to use it!
Have fun braking your tracks! 🙂
