New Sounds For The New Year: What To Do When You’re In A Recording Rut

New Sounds For The New Year- What To Do When You're In A Recording Rut

As we prepare to welcome in the New Year, it’s a great time to talk about your new sounds.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re in a rut, there’s really no alternative solution. New sounds can liven up your productions and make your music sound fresh.

But how in the world are you supposed to find the inspiration to create new sounds? What can you do to infuse that fresh new aspect in your boring average recordings?

The answer, my friends, is quite simple. But it will blow your minds.

In you’re having trouble making something that sounds fresh and new, this simple exercise – if practiced for a reasonable amount of time (maybe a week) – will ease all of your troubles.

And that exercise is to listen to new music. Find a new song, album, or artist, and listen to them. Listen to something new every day. Don’t go a single day without hearing something you haven’t heard before.

You see, what we listen to has a huge impact on what we create. And if we are feeling like we’re in a rut, the best way to shake it up and get our creative juices flowing again is to feed our imaginations something fresh.

It may seem simple, but try it for a week – maybe a month – you’ll be amazed at what you can create when you listen to new music.

One great way to do this is with Spotify. Fire it up in the morning, maybe just before bed. It’s easy to find something new on there. And who knows, maybe you’ll find your next favorite artist!
