Greg Calbi – Philosphy of Mastering

One of the most fascinating things for me is getting inside the great minds that produce, mix, and master music. Greg Calbi is one of those minds. Fortunately, this video gets to the core of some of his philosophies about mastering, as well as some of the techniques he uses when he does it.

Check out this video and see what you can learn from it. One of the most interesting points he makes is that you cannot ever be completely satisfied with your work – “there’s always something you could have done better.” This is haunting. Although we like to find some peace of mind with our work by calling if “finished,” there is a lot of truth to this statement. Even though we may be finished with something, there’s always something that could have been done differently, which we can learn from and use on the next production.
